Today I bought a 42 inch LCD LG TV brand new. it’s a 1080 pixel. I use Comcast digital cable. I set my TV up to my cable box and it is very fuzzy. I can see it but it looks nothing like the stores (Abc warehouse). I have a friend who has a Vizio hooked up to comcast and it comes in clear as a bell. Do I need to get the HD cable box?

Answer by RICH You said you hooked it up to your cable box.??? If so, Comcast has different channels for the digital broadcasting.. For instance, I used to watch channel 4 analog…when I got digital, I go to 804 to get channel 4 in digital.. Channel 7 is 807, etc.. You can check with Comcast for a digital channel list! (That may be the problem.) I get Comcast HD digital without a cable box also.. Without the cable box: Channel 4 sd analogfeed..channel 4.1 digital feed…channel 5 ..sd analog feed..channel 5-1 digital feed. etc. Don’t forget to do a scan with ‘cable’ as the setting for the auto-scan.!!

Why do I have all these new, extra channels since getting my LCD tv? 42 lcd tv 720p Question by Dizzle
I just brought a new 42″ LCD 720p flat screen television. While messing around flipping the channels one night, I learned that I had way more channels that I could access with this television. Being that I only have the most basic of cable connections, these extra channels were surprising. What was more suprising was when I flipped and came across HBO and then flipped a little further and caught an adult movie and then found the channels where they play only music from different genres and eras. I am clearly not paying for these stations because I really don’t watch tv that much. So why am I getting all of these extra channels when my cable selection is basic and previously did not go past channel 72? The weird thing about it is when I tried to go back to HBO on the same channel a few days later, that channel was no longer working but others that were not working were now catching a signal. Are these new-found channels to be expected since I upgraded my tv? Is it legal?

Answer by fdx098 if you do not have a cable box basic cable usually runs through channel 99 after that a box is required (usually digital channels after 99) You must have had a very old and obsolete TV if the only channels you were receiving was through 72.. and yes it is legal it is basic cable you just didnt have the TV tuner to receive those other channels

Ive been searching for a while now, and my primary uses for it would be playing the xbox 360, hooking it up to my laptop, and watching movies. I was hesitant on getting a 120hz because honestly i dont think its worth the extra $ $ , but i found a few 120hz tvs i liked. Anyway my budget is 900 $ at most, but id prefer to spend much less if possible.
Anyway i narrowed down my search to the following tvs:
m considering downgrading the sony and samsung to 60hz as i despise the “soap opera effect” as some put it. SO out of these which one has the best quality/price, and if you guys know something better in the price range let me know. Right now im leaning on the sharp or lg.

Answer by Pon bravia is the best, as far as what you want it for, so far nothing you said requires 120hz or even 1080p. look at your xbox specs, they will not be any higher the 720, and at 720 120hz isn’t important. even the ps3 only have a few games at 1080p. the only thing i would be careful about the bravia is make sure its not a four year old model, at that price im sure it is.
now if you want this tv for a long time and not be outdated, 1080p and 120hz is very important. i would also get a LED, defiantly not plasma, lcd is ok. the only reason im not telling you to get a sharp, is because they wont las as long as a sony or samsung, the quality will fade faster. my advice for you is to look into a samsung with those specs but for a LED, i you look hard enough you should be able to find one for about 800.
